The Art of Nude by JW Purdy Episode 32 - Model shoot – Props, working wi...

www.jwpurdy.com/the-art-of-nude

For this shoot we decided it would be fun to create a scene focused on my 1950’s model typewriter. We set the old Smith-Corona on a stool and had Shannon take a seat as if she were distressed trying to write a letter. You can see all the failed attempts to complete the letter around her on the floor. Sometimes it is fun to create a scene and really jump into the role and sell the image whole-heartedly.

The Art of Nude by JW Purdy Episode 31 - Model shoot – Split lighting wi...

www.jwpurdy.com/the-art-of-nude

For this shoot I wanted to work with a simple split lighting setup and a classic pose. I placed a one light key with a shoot-thru umbrella to the models left side and had her make very small variations in her pose as we worked. This is a simple setup you can try with a very small amount of gear.

The Art of Nude by JW Purdy Episode 30 - Model shoot – Sleepy weight lifter

www.jwpurdy.com/the-art-of-nude

For this episode we will see what happens when you wake up a
very tired blonde and then have her lift weights for the shoot. Needless to say
she was not very happy but I thought it was very comical. I was trying to get a
photo similar to one of the images I saw as a kid on every sports magazine
cover. For several years Bo Jackson was the center of attention in the wide
world of sports. “Bo knows” was the common saying going around because Bo
played every sport on earth it seemed.
We actually ended up going with a photo of Shannon squatting down with
the weights in front of her giving me a very dirty look. I couldn’t help but
laugh and tease her at her distain for lifting.

The Art of Nude by JW Purdy Episode 29 - Model shoot – Dramatic pose & l...

When you are shooting an edgy or dramatic pose your lighting setup can also be dramatic and hard. For this shoot I used a one light setup with a medium grid placed at the left of the camera to create a hard shadow on the right side of the model. You will also notice by the shadow beneath the models breasts that the light was above the her to give the image a more natural feel.

The Art of Nude by JW Purdy Episode 28 - Model shoot – Happy Halloween

We just wanted to wish everyone a Happy and safe Halloween. Shannon wanted to shoot with her costume on and we captured a few good shots with it. We also had her shoot with a little grim reaper and the images came out great. In case you are wondering you can hear Shannon’s sister make a comment from the living room near the beginning of the video. We ended up feeling one of the shots with the reaper was the strongest however several featuring the cat outfit will be included in the set sell up very soon in the shop.
Thanks,
